Beginner: Running (sprints) to improve fitness for sparring?
okay i do jujitsu & silat (martial arts)
we’ve been told to improve our duration on the mats we need to do sprints combined with a bit of weights.
our instructor said sprints only (im guessing he wants more explosive power then long term jogging)
long story short
any pointers?
i’m basically a beginner to running my only experience is from rugby.
so will running a certain way damage my foot?
how many sprints should i do?
how long should it be (100meters etc)?
how long should my rests between sprints be?
will an average pair of runners do?
on an average basis will i see improvement in a few months/weeks?
benifits of running? (core improvement and all that yeah?)
if this matters at all im 5 10
78kg of mostly muscle (i aint really got fat on me)
& im fairly fit although fitness for running and sparring (fighting) is alot different.
thanks in advance for answering

How do women in fitness ads get toned, flat, abdominal areas, and no cellulite or visible body fat?
What could I do to improve my fitness routine to get the results I’m looking for? I have done aerobic exercise -usually running/jogging everyday for 8 years, and am the correct weight for my height.
However, I’m in my early 30s and tend to store a bit of extra body fat in my thighs, causing the cellulite to be more visible. Plus my abdomen sticks out, and simply will not flatten. I tried doing crunches or doing weight training with free weights, but none of it helped.
How do I get the "toned core" that they talk about in infomercials? How do I get those slim, toned thighs. Fitness ads make it look like anyone can look completely perfect like the women on the TV…Or is this just a body type I don’t have and should realize it will never happen…and just keep up my jogging and forget about perfection? These women look so toned and healthy. What have you done with your workouts? Any ideas?

Training for a half marathon in a year, I'm starting now – any tips? Where do I start?
I used to go to my gym all the time, I was a proper gym rat really trying to lose weight. This was about a year ago. I’ve now got a diet consultant and I’ve lost weight by changing what I eat so don’t really bother with the gym that much anymore.
I want to run the Bristol half marathon and I’ve got about a year to prepare for it.
How exactly should I go about doing this? Do I have to run at the gym all the time, or can I do core strengthening excersises such as the stair master? Will that help increase my stamina and fitness?

Is there an alternative to Pilates with the same results?
Hello. I’m trying to find a good cardio workout that provides the same benefits of Pilates…but isn’t actually Pilates. In my body shaping class at school, we did Pilates so much that I wanted to kill Joseph Pilates (and the person who thought of Windsor Pilates as well). Is there anything I can do besides Pilates (and yoga) that focuses on building core muscles? I’m trying to lose weight and I already committ to at least 45 minutes of exercise daily (running or biking). I just need this for more fitness and getting toned for personal reasons.

I want to strengthen my core a little more.. ?
Well, I think my core area is pretty strong there, because we have to do the fitness gram for gym and we could go up to 36 crunches and I did but I didn’t feel tired after I did those. But, I want to develop some muscle in my core. What are some exercises?

Can you start learning yoga when you are out of shape?
I need to strengthen everything, but as I have started to work out I get tighter & tighter. What little I have read about yoga is that it helps flexibility and core fitness. I am now in the obese column, should I wait until I am a little less fat?

is there a way to strengthen your core muscles through fencing?
For a women’s fitness final, i need to design a workout that will include, stretches, cardio workouts, core/abdominal workouts and a cool-off. I’ve been fencing for almost three years, but i just can’t seem to find an exercise that helps the core/abdomen.
