I am 23 y/o, slightly overweight wanting to lose some flab and gain some fitness, there are some classes at the gym that i really like, I am planning to do body pump three times a week, yoga once a week, body combat 3 times a week, and a core strenghthening class 2 times a week, each class goes for 1 hr. Am i being too unreallistic about how much i can do?
Maybe not necessarily unrealistic, but you are setting yourself up for burnout! You need to start with less and work your way up. I’m not saying that ambition isn’t a good thing, but if you start out with a heavy workout, you’ll have to stay with that workout. If you change things up, it tricks your body into never knowing what’s next, and keeps you from falling into a rut. Also, remember you’re going to have some seriously sore muscles if you’ve not been doing these things already, thus the work yourself up to it idea. Biggest tip I can give you is this…..ALWAYS have a rest day. Your body needs at least 1 day a week to re cooperate and relax. You will have plateaus, but just keep up the good work, and the rewards will come! Don’t forget that your daily diet will play into your weight loss goals as well. Congrats on your new commitment of a healthier lifestyle!
think you should go for as much as you can of that plan. Not only will you loose pounds generously, but those classes willl have advantages. Body combat will get your heart pumping and help you with SELF defence. Core strenghtening will do much. Yogo will not only help you to be more flexible but It will relax you and get you stress free. (trust me, yogo feels so good. At first it may seemhard but after a few days, you will miss it so much.) So try taking all of them. If it seems like too much, drop out a class or to. If you start it, not only would you loose weight but you have a hobby!
