I often see people in other sections saying they tend to stay away from the Religion and Spirituality section because it’s just way too intense for them. They often say it is the worst section to visit. In one answer I read just now, the answerer described it as a ferocious environment.
Do you think this is true?
Personally I find this section hilarious, it doesn’t annoy me one bit.
It is hilarious sometimes
Every time I visit here, I have to pull the labels off my beer bottles.
Some trolls can be quite funny and clever at times. This place can also be annoying though, with all of the insults disguised as questions.
No, not at all. I enjoy the chaos.
R&S is awesome.
YEAH ITS FULL OF PEOPLE WHO ALWAYS ANSWER WITH A JOKE ASSHOLES
it can be frustrating, because of the hateful comments that are made toward God.
I love this section its a good laugh
Most of the atheists here are ferocious. Otherwise, it’s just an oprotunity to spread the Word.
And no offense, but anyone who finds this section "funny" really needs to grow up.
frustrating? sure. intense? to some. the worst section to visit? no way. this is by far the most important subject in the forum. in the other categories people are talking about meaningless things like how to keep my cat from clawing the drapes or does this guy like me?
Naw…
Challenging ideas, especially bad ones, is a good learning experience.
The banter is entertaining, too.
This would obviously be a much better place if atheists didn’t come here trying to convert people to their twisted religion. But, through faith in God and knowledge that I am both morally and intellectually superior to them, I find it easy to fend off frustration.
I also find it hilarious, sometimes very moving, and occasionally amazing.
Metaright, if you don’t want to be found funny, better change your username. You’re right about me; even at 55, I’m terribly immature.
To the morally and intellectually superior Mr. Bunge I bow.
To both of you: I was NOT the person who thumbed you down.
It has opened my eyes to the true ignorance of creationists. And to the down to earth goodness of most atheists
Compared to just about every section except Politics, it’s a minefield.
To the inexperienced, it can certainly seem "ferocious". Much like Politics, it isn’t for those who wish to find genuine answers.
I imagine some first jump in with a vastly different idea. They soon learn.
It only frustating to those who don’t understand it.
Quit worrying and love the bomb.
sometimes yes and very sectarian not funny in the least mind you would love to say sometimes , "want to laugh out loud " "..ho ho ho " …but don’t , want to , may do next time.
The section is so bad that it’s lame. It’s main flaw is common ignorance.
Any real question takes a year to answer. There are never any links sourced – not frustrating forgettable.
Except for the atheists getting all bent out of shape at posts that are usually the product of other atheists trolling as Christians, it’s a decent site.
I remember one of my first answers was admonishing a particularly belligerent atheist, thinking her answer had to be completely unrepresentative of the usual fare. Imagine my surprise when I found she was not only par for the course, but also enjoyed the protective spirit of most of the other atheists.
I knew right then who owned the site.
To each his own.
As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
MARANATHA! Come, Lord Jesus, COME!
No, I like this it combines different religions
It does bother me to an extent. Studying religion is my main hobby in life and I believe I am quite well informed, compared to the average citizen. I tend to stay away because the ignorance is almost painful at times, and I only saw this question because I just posted my own. People generally don’t come here to exchange information or gain a new perspective. They come to aggressively argue inflexible opinions. The study of religion is something I take somewhat seriously, and a lot of comments (and questions) in this section offensive, ignorant, and downright hateful.
I think the religious people here are offended almost permanently, and the atheists are frustrated almost permanently, and the agnostics are no better than before they started!
