What was wrong with your fish? Because I have been debating doing this for my fish, I believe he is just constipated -___- and his stomach is slightly swollen. Please tell me if this helped yours??
This helped but only slightly and I believe only temporarily. Loki actually passed away a week or two ago. For me, the salt soak was a last resort. There are other things you can do such as feeding the inside of a boiled pea, soaking pellets before feeding so that they don’t expand inside his stomach, or holding up a mirror to make him flare (this will sometimes make him poop) I don’t recommend doing this for your fish because it’s very stressful and right now it sounds very minor for your betta
Cont: One other thing you want to do is keep the water very clean and be on top of changes. Dirty water and untreated bloating can cause dropsy which is nearly always fatal. You may also want to fast your betta at least on day out of the week to let his system clean out, and remember to only feed 2-3 pellets. if you use bloodworms, only feed them as an occasional treat, never as their main diet. As far as what was wrong with him, I’m not entirely sure because he wasn’t constipated
His lump actually grew in size and I moved him out of his hospital tank back into his normal one because there were more hiding spots and it was familiar for him. I think this helped him a little because he wasn’t so stressed but his death was a long time coming and he was slowing down a lot, so it wasn’t unexpected. Your betta should be okay though, they tend to get constipated easily because they have small stomachs, so it’s not like his situation is unusual
Sorry he passed 🙁 However the epsom you added is too high for a betta. Epsom doses that are too big or exasperated for a long period of time will cause anemia, and that is non-recoverable. You’re better off to add 1/4th tsp of epsom to 10 gals of water and leave it in for a maximum of 8 days, and no longer 🙂
