Actually, Serial Thriller, fiction can inspire science. Jules Verne wrote a fictional story about travel to the moon 104 years before the first man set foot there. That being said, don’t mistake bible thumping for hard facts.
Science has occasionally inspired spirituality in men who were atheists working with DNA or nuclear physics who felt that only a god could make these things possible once they witnessed their perfection, they say.

There was once this person who had a dream of a snake biting its own tail which then lead him to develop his theory (if you classify dreams as spirituality).
"He said that he had discovered the ring shape of the benzene molecule after having a reverie or day-dream of a snake seizing its own tail (this is a common symbol in many ancient cultures known as the Ouroboros)."
generally, spirituality interferes with science by giving pat answers to questions science should investigate rigorously.
Often, scienctific evidence doesn’t jive with people’s spiritual beliefs, and that makes them angry and they usually attack science.

They can both enhance a sense of wonder. For example: whether it’s going to Muir Woods and contemplating 3000+ year old living redwoods or looking up at the Milky Way at night, they both instill a sense of wonder from a scientific and spiritual perspective.

Isaac Newton was a very devoted Christian living for Jesus Christ.
I don’t know if he made much of an impact on science.
I am sure all those who think this silly are much smarter than was Newton.

Many of the early scientists were men of God who believed they could better understand God through science. So I would say yes.

For me, because I don’t subscribe to any dogma whatsoever, science inspires my sense of wonder.
Since I believe that God created everything and is within everything, I say to myself WOW, God did this! or God did that! How incredibly complex, how wondrous!!
The more I learn about evolution, the more thrilled I get! To think, my ancestors were one-celled beings!! And before primates, my ancestors were little mammals with snouts! And before mammals – I’m still learning … some kind of fish or sea creature! Imagine! Developing all that into this human race (imperfect as it still is)
I’m just so impressed with God! Learning about the Universe from the series The Universe on the History channel, Wow, it’s amazing what has happened. And what WILL happen?
I’m filled with curiosity and amazement about The Big Bang! What started it? are there other Universes, too? If this Universe is ever expanding, what is going to happen in the long run? If it all goes away, what does that even mean? How is that possible?
The scientists can be inspired by the world of spirit, knowing that they don’t know everything…they can wonder what role other realities, other dimensions, other sources, there are. The show The Universe drew the line at wondering what caused The Big Bang. They indicated they just don’t know!!! What a wonderment!!!
People seem so stubborn about believing in either science or spirit. I’m just not that way. Maybe it’s a gift. I sure like it!
I’m convinced we need a new religion, one that doesn’t depend on ancient teachings, revealed to man before man had the ability to understand all but the simplest of explanations, one that encompasses ALL of what science knows and will discover. Anyone want to follow me? (lol)
