religion is adhering to a set of beliefs and principles
spirituality is a feeling of a connection to all
you can be one or both
although some argue it is difficult to adhere to principles and rules while truely being spiritual .. I agree that would be difficult but a few do seem to manage it
there is a difference. to me religion is organized to varying extents. whereas spirituality is something that you discover on your own.
religion requires God. spirituality requires self-help gurus
Religion puts it’s emphasis on the ‘traditions of men’, often times, things which God has nothing to do with, and does not approve of.
Spirituality deals more with the emphasis on Relationship, fellowship with Christ.
To me… there is something very spiritual about nature… but I’m completely irreligious and don’t believe in any gods.
Religion is your god
Spirituality is your aura
Spirituality is an experience, or a reaction to something. Religion can be a spiritual experience. So can looking at the stars.
Religion is about following a set of rules written in a book purportedly written by people influenced by the words of God.
I see religion as a structured sort of institution, while spirituality is a more individualized approach to one’s beliefs that doesn’t rely on a formalized system of worship or observance.
Religion Controls, where as Spirituality goes beyond Dogmas & Rites.
I disagree with the first answer; you can be religious without God, but you can’t be truly spiritual without God; you can have a form of spirituality, but it won’t be the same as when you receive the Holy Spirit.
Everyone is spiritual because they are of the Spirit and they have one but everybody doesn’t have a religion. The literal answer is with the knowledge that religion is an organized set of beliefs and spirituality is an emotion thing there is a lot of difference between the two. A spiritual person can believe it is wrong to kill but know they are not wrong if they must sometimes. A religeous person is more concerned with what others are doing wrong and are just as spiritual as the rest when they are only concerned with what they do wrong
absolutely, we are to cast aside religion for a personal relationship with the living Christ, receiving the offer of life 1 john 5:11,13 we are all born into this world dead spiritualy seperated from the life of God, but when when we come to Jesus by faith we are raised together with Christ now we are alive spiritualy and now we can understand what the bible is saying, natural man it sounds foolish to him, the bible is a spiritual book, it is God’s testomony about Jesus from genesis to revelation, it also has instruction how we can come to Jesus and be raised together with him in life ever lasting, we have a personal reationship with Jesus and he come to live his life in and through us today, cant get any more personal than that. Jesus is our preist forever, the book of (hebrews)
