i was a catcher too and my eight grade year i put on some weight, so my freshman year i ran cross country. it taught me alot of diciple that i used in helping me train for softball. Weight training along with runing is your best bet. I would talk to a weight training coach at your school or local high school. The best thing to do to get into shape is running, that works sooo many muscles…swimming does also. Along with running if you do not have acces to a gym to work out i would do sit ups and puchups for arm, back, and core training. Push ups and set ups are some of the best work outs you could do. Also work on you throw to second and practice running the bases in situational drills, also the best practice for hitting is hitting off a tee. Talk to your softball coach or a local hs softball coach for some other drills!! good luck! it sounds like you have alot of determination!!
hey this is a really good question. our high school has a work out plan the first week and we had to six laps around the whole field, but you need to do a lot of endurance agility. i am a pitcher and catcher too, and you also need to do some lunges to strengthen your legs :]
